1. PIG: STEP1 Pediatrics Review - 12:00p-1:00p, Monday 3/12 @ Lecture Room 2 Let's play Jeopardy! Review high yield peds topics like infectious diseases, immunodeficiencies, and congenital disorders. CHEP: Liberty High School Health Fair- 7:30a, Tuesday 3/13 @ Liberty High School This is our annual health fair at Liberty High School. We have brand new posters for this year, covering a range of high school health topics such as alcohol use, smoking, drugs of abuse, etc. We rotate through health classes and teach students about the topics in informal presentations. We have two groups scheduled for 7:30-11AM and 11-2:30PM on Tuesday March 13th, 2018. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. SRC: STEP1 Biostatistics Review- 12:00p-1:00p, Thursday 3/15 @ Conference Room A Please join the Student Research Council for a review of high-yield biostatistics topics for Step 1! WHIG: Re-Bra Event- 1:30p-3:00p, Thursday 3/15 @ Estes Lecture Room 2 WHIG is partnering with Re-Bra, a program that repurposes lightly used bras (mainly donated by women who have undergone surgical breast cancer treatment and no longer need them) by distributing them to low-income women in the area. We'll be attaching the "Breast Health Bill of Rights" to ~500 bras; it's super mindless, a lot of fun, and snacks will be provided! Come help us support this amazing initiative! CoVER & SIGN: Brain Games - 9a - 3p, Saturday 3/17 @ DaVinci Science Center Brain Games is hosted in collaboration with the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience as a part of Brain Awareness Week (http://www.dana.org/BAW/). Volunteers are needed to help supervise and run activities, and there will be an optional meeting prior to the event to discuss this year's activities. Past activities have included touching sheep brains with basic neuroanatomy education, reflex and two-point discrimination testing, and visual illusions, with the possibility of adding EEG/EMG measurements on kids this year. The event will run from 10A-2P on Saturday, March 17th. There will be two shifts to sign up to volunteer for at the link (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CWtVlGZpBtLoSar8QaULL8VPEuzW9Jm_nmEr6mdoVKQ/edit#gid=0), 9A-12P will include set-up and 12P-3P will include clean-up. OWLs: Therapy Dogs - 1p, Tuesday 3/20 @ Library Pet dogs and relieve stress. Contact: Emily Du, [email protected] 7. Hearts: Reach HEARTS Reach is a community outreach project that will provide monthly health programming at three different locations in Bethlehem, including Trinity Soup Kitchen, New Bethany Ministries, and the Hispanic Center. As a student, you will perform blood pressure screening, educate visitors with provided health messaging on a different topic every month, and community members with HEARTS Clinic. Staff from the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine Residents will also be present, and more than one student can attend any given REACH session!
