Thursday 9/3/15, MERB 105, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. If you were on a plane and suddenly a fellow passenger needed help, how would you respond? As a future physician, you may find yourself in this exact situation one day dealing with an issue that falls outside your scope of practice. Come join Temple AMSA to hear Dr. Manish Garg recount his personal experiences responding to these kinds of situations. Pizza and soda will be provided. LMSA Career Paths Lunchtime Talk Thursday 9/3/15, MERB 305, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Come join LMSA as they host the first of a projected series of hour-long talks exploring the diverse career paths and lifestyles available to future medical school graduates. The featured speaker will be Dr. Camilo Gutierrez, a distinguished clinician, researcher and educator specializing in epilepsy and other neurological disorders. Dr. Gutierrez's talk is open to all members of the TUSM community. Lunch will be provided! FMIG: Family Med Can Take You Anywhere Thursday 8/27/15, MERB 319, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Join Family Medicine Interest Group for our first meeting of the year! Dr. O'Gurek will talk about the many career paths possible for family physicians. Learn about the activities we have planned for the year. A non-pizza lunch will be provided. TEACH: Blood Pressure Clinical Skills Session Thursday 8/27/15, MERB 219, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Want to learn how to take a blood pressure? Want to get a chance to try out your stethoscope? On Thursday, August 27th from 12-1 PM, come learn how to take a blood pressure. Taking a BP is a very important skill that you will be using throughout your career, and start using right now at the different TEACH microclinics and health fairs. We will go over how to use the sphygmomanometer and stethoscope and everyone will have a chance to practice on each other! Please bring your stethoscope! Blood pressure cuffs will be available for practice. Every year it proves to be a big event, as all of the student organizations will be there to tell you what they are all about. If you are interested in getting involved with any of the groups they will have sign up sheets for you to do so! Come out to spend the afternoon getting more involved with the amazing opportunities TUSM has to offer.
