Intergrative Medicine Interest Group - Dr. Karen Lin: How to Learn and Practice Integrative Medicine
Monday 12/14/2015, MERB 217, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m.

Dr. Karen Lin, attending physician and advisor to IMIG, will describe how students of allopathic medicine may attain certification to incorporate integrative medicine techniques into their future practice. Free lunch will be provided.

AMWA - Women in Medicine Panel
Monday 12/14/2015, MERB 105, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m.

Join AMWA for a panel discussion with Temple female physicians about achieving success and finding happiness as a female physician. The panel will feature female doctors from Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease Medicine, and Emergency Medicine. The doctors range in experience from chief residents to program directors, so there will be a wide variety of perspectives shared. Please bring questions and an appetite as lunch will be provided.

SNMA - White Coat Embroidery

It's that time of year....for WHITE COAT EMBROIDERIES!!

SNMA will be providing the opportunity for students to give themselves an early winter holiday present by having their White Coats embroidered! :D

SEHP and SNaHP - Documentary Screening of: "Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare"
Monday 12/7/2015, MERB 305, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m.

Come join Students Engaging in Health Policy (SEHP) and Students for a National Health Program (SNaHP) for a screening of the documentary, "Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare," a powerful and thought-provoking documentary that exposes the U.S. healthcare system as one designed to profit on disease rather than health. The film interweaves personal stories with the efforts of leaders battling to transform it. Joins us for this two day event (50 minutes of video at each session) on Monday and Tuesday. 

Pizza lunch provided both days.

Whether you are interested in getting a competitive residency or expanding your scientific interests, research is a fantastic extracurricular activity to get into. The ENT Interest Group will host a panel of medical students currently doing ENT specific research. These students can give their personal insights on how to get a position, which attendings to speak to, or any other general questions you may have.

IMIG - Culinary Medicine Info Session

Do you like cooking healthy, delicious food? Do you like medicine? Is Bobby Flay your secret celebrity crush? Then come for a talk on culinary medicine! We will be discussing this new multifaceted student initiative in partnership with the Center for Obesity Research and Education. Join us at noon on December 8th for lunch and to learn about how to get involved!

Christian Medical and Dental Association - Summer Medical Institute Info Session
Tuesday 12/8/2015, Kresge C, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m.

Dr. Karen Fritz and Ms. Holly Favino will share a summer medical mission trip opportunity in North Philadelphia. For three weeks over the summer, Christian health professions students in this urban immersion program will get to learn to address health needs of the largely low-income, urban community in Hispanic North Philadelphia and integrate their faith and the medical practice. 

Lunch will be served.

Dermatology Interest Group - Lunchtime Talk with Dr. Altman
Wednesday 12/9/2015, MERB 342, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m.

The Dermatology Interest Group would like to invite you to our second lunchtime talk with Dr. Jamie Altman on Wednesday Dec. 9th at noon. Dr. Altman will be discussing his path into dermatology, why he chose the specialty, and what he thinks about this specialty's future. Pizza will be provided.

TEAC - Disaster Response Talk with Dr. Wolf

​Hello everyone!

Come join the TEAC Disaster Response Group for a talk by Dr. Nelson Wolf on international disaster response preparedness and relief in MERB 319. A pizza lunch will be provided! We hope to see you there!

Dr. Wolf is a member of the faculty in Medicine and Cardiology at Temple University Medical School. He is trained as a Navy Undersea Medical Officer and was on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 3 years and reserve duty for 2. Dr. Wolf also has training in the area of bioterrorism, and in disaster preparedness. He is a member of the disaster management committee of Temple University Hospital. Dr. Wolf was the director of Invasive and Interventional cardiology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania for over 20 years, and is the current acting director of Invasive and Interventional Cardiology at Temple University Medical Center. He has been a leader in application of newer technologies to invasive and interventional cardiology. Dr. Wolf has been an avid sport diver for many years.

LGBTQ - Adolescent Sexuality Talk by Joanne Glusman

Joanne Glusman will be giving a talk on Adolescent Sexuality that will be inclusive of all forms of sexuality not just LGBT specific ones. Joanne works with the Main Line Youth Alliance which is an organization that provides social, educational, and supportive services for LGBT youth in Philadelphia. Come hear her unique perspective on the topic and as always eat free pizza.

Temple Emergency Medicine Interest Group - Suturing Workshop
Friday 12/11/2015, MERB 319, 12:00p.m.-2:00p.m.

Please join us Friday, December 11th as we host Temple EM faculty in a hands-on suturing workshop! Students will learn how to execute various suturing techniques which will be useful in third year and beyond. There will be two sessions: 12-1 PM and 1-2 PM to facilitate all who wish to attend.
