Announcements: SEHP and SNaHP - Documentary Screening of: "Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare" Monday 12/7/2015, MERB 305, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Come join Students Engaging in Health Policy (SEHP) and Students for a National Health Program (SNaHP) for a screening of the documentary, "Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare," a powerful and thought-provoking documentary that exposes the U.S. healthcare system as one designed to profit on disease rather than health. The film interweaves personal stories with the efforts of leaders battling to transform it. Joins us for this two day event (50 minutes of video at each session) on Monday and Tuesday. Christian Medical and Dental Association - Summer Medical Institute Info Session Tuesday 12/8/2015, Kresge C, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Dr. Karen Fritz and Ms. Holly Favino will share a summer medical mission trip opportunity in North Philadelphia. For three weeks over the summer, Christian health professions students in this urban immersion program will get to learn to address health needs of the largely low-income, urban community in Hispanic North Philadelphia and integrate their faith and the medical practice. TEAC - Disaster Response Talk with Dr. Wolf Wednesday 12/9/2015, MERB 319, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Hello everyone! Come join the TEAC Disaster Response Group for a talk by Dr. Nelson Wolf on international disaster response preparedness and relief in MERB 319. A pizza lunch will be provided! We hope to see you there! Dr. Wolf is a member of the faculty in Medicine and Cardiology at Temple University Medical School. He is trained as a Navy Undersea Medical Officer and was on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 3 years and reserve duty for 2. Dr. Wolf also has training in the area of bioterrorism, and in disaster preparedness. He is a member of the disaster management committee of Temple University Hospital. Dr. Wolf was the director of Invasive and Interventional cardiology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania for over 20 years, and is the current acting director of Invasive and Interventional Cardiology at Temple University Medical Center. He has been a leader in application of newer technologies to invasive and interventional cardiology. Dr. Wolf has been an avid sport diver for many years. LGBTQ - Adolescent Sexuality Talk by Joanne Glusman Wednesday 12/9/2015, Kresge C, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Joanne Glusman will be giving a talk on Adolescent Sexuality that will be inclusive of all forms of sexuality not just LGBT specific ones. Joanne works with the Main Line Youth Alliance which is an organization that provides social, educational, and supportive services for LGBT youth in Philadelphia. Come hear her unique perspective on the topic and as always eat free pizza.
