We will have short presentations from different sections of TEAC, and then time for questions. This is a great opportunity to learn how to get involved in the community and abroad, and lunch will be provided! APAMSA (Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association) Event Title: Pharmacide - Documentary Screning Event Date: 9/22/16 Event Start Time: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM MERB 219 On Sep 22, APAMSA will be hosting a screening event for a documentary film <Pharmacide>, which investigates the issue of counterfeit medicine trade in South East Asia. Counterfeit medicine trade is a serious global public health problem that is a threat not only to the local populations but also to the travelers, with a notable example of wide-spread fake Arsenate that results in the increased death due to the Malaria. The film traces how the counterfeit medicine manufactured and distributed, and describes the effort of local government and International agencies to put an end to the illicit trade. With vivid portrayals of the people’s life and healthcare practices in the South East Asia, the film provides an invaluable opportunity to look at medical issues from the global perspective. The Symposium will be held on Saturday, October 15th at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. The posters will be judged by the Center for Bioethics, Urban Health and Policy prior to the Symposium and cash prizes will be awarded to first place ($100) and runner up ($50) for Judges Award. Thank You Cards for Stethoscopes This message is being sent on behalf of Mike Moore. Dear First Year Students, This is a reminder that the office of Institutional Advancement will have a table set next week in the MERB Commons, where you will be able to write thank you cards to the donors who contributed towards your stethoscope. The tables will be set up right outside of Luo Auditorium on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week from 12pm-4pm. I will have a student list on hand that will show who your donor(s) is/are. You may have multiple donors (no more than 3), so please keep that in mind. We ask that you write a thank you for each individual donor. I will have stationery for you to use and will mail the cards as well. Please note a few reminders: Cards should be addressed Dear Dr./Mr./Mrs. (the sheet will indicate proper salutation) All cards will be mailed out to donors by the development office, so you can give them right to us when you’re finished What to write? Show your gratitude; Talk about what the stethoscope means to you; talk about what going to medical school at Temple means to you Attached, please find some examples of cards written in the past, feel free to borrow language. The dates and times are listed below: Monday, September 19th 12-4pm Tuesday, September 20th 12-4pm Wednesday, September 21st 12-4pm We will have some treats to give away once you write your cards, and if you can’t make these times I am happy to make arrangements so that you can get your card to me.
