We are incredibly excited to be having our first event of the year with a lunchtime talk featuring Dr. Erkmen, the Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program here at Temple. He will be speaking about a defining case from his career and answering any questions one might have about pursuing neurosurgery. Pizza lunch will be provided. Ophthalmology Student Interest Group - Ophthalmology Physical Exam Learning Event Tuesday 11/10/2015, MERB 319A&B, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Hi OSIG! We have scheduled an instruction session in physical diagnosis for Tuesday, November 10, from 12pm-1pm. The session will cover both examination techniques with the ophthalmoscope and the measurement of intraocular pressure using a tonopen. Marty Schardt, the ophthalmology research coordinator, will be in attendance to communicate some of the more subtle tricks of the ophthalmologic exam and to discuss ongoing research in the ophthalmology department. Following the formal instruction, we will move to the Sim center for a practice session that will give everyone a chance to polish his or her ophthalmoscopic technique. Do you enjoy critical care and crashing patients? Join Temple MEDIC as we come together to help fix these problems! Students for a National Health Program - Single Payer 101 Wednesday 11/11/2015, Room 317, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Many of you expressed interest in learning more about Single Payer, and there is no better way to do this than to hear all about it from one of the experts in the field. Join SNaHP (Students for a National Health Program) and Dr. Walter Tsou on Thursday, November 12th at 12pm in MERB 217. Dr. Tsou is a past president of the American Public Health Association and former health commissioner of Philadelphia. He is a founding member of the National Board of Public Health Examiners and a board adviser to Physicians for a National Health Program. He is also an expert on health reform and health care financing, he frequently briefs members of Congress on health care issues. Come with an open mind and appetite. Lunch will be provided!
